hailing from tokyo, artist keiichi tanaami keiichi tanaami graduated from the college of design at musashino art university. since the 1960s he has materfully traversed the boundaries of media and genre to become one of the leading pop artists of post-war japan and a major influence on young artists across the planet. it was during the roaring 1960s that tanaami evolved as a directional artist and protagonist of the pop-art and psychedelic culture in his home country by designing album jackets for the japanese releases of legendary foreign rock bands. opening wed - apr 3 at nanzuka gallery is killer's joe, part one of a twofold exhibition of tanaami's drawings, collages, paintings, and animations made in the 1960s and early 1970s that were recently rediscovered in his art studio. the official opening party is to be held on sat - apr 27 [6pm-8pm] when the second exhibition is scheduled to open. location: shibuya ibis building, 2-17-3-b1 shibuya [shibuya].
