tokyo: galerie perrotin opening

following the opening of an outpost in hong kong in 2012, and last year's launch in seoul, renowned paris-based art dealer emmanuel perrotin [1968] has anticipated a siginificant rise in the number of japanese collectors with the opening of a third asian exhibition space in tokyo's roppongi district. also, the japanese capital being one of his fave destinations, launching here gives him al the more reason to drop by regularly while also enabling his roster of top artist to gain exposure in this increasingly important art market. the venue is situated on the ground floor of the piramide building, a stone's throw away from the roppongi hills landmark complex, and features approx. 81 sqm. [872 sq.ft.] exhibition space, spread across a large room and a smaller adjacent room. the inaugural show of galerie perrotin's newest asian outpost is dedicated to french artist pierre soulages [1919], and features a series of monochromatic black paintings [open through aug 19]. location: piramide building, 6-6-9 roppongi, ground floor [roppongi].
