tokyo: aesop installation

celebrating its sixth anniversary, swanky tokyo midtown mall recently finalized a drastic renewal phase that has seen no less than 42 new high-end brands set up shop there. joining the buzz is aesop with a temporary installation in the mall's basement section. the showcase has been designed by the cosmetics brand's creative manager hiroko shiratori and makes use of a number of stacked utilitarian chairs in a linear assembly, creating makeshift walls, borders and shelves. shiratori studied at the royal college of art, the chelsea college of art and design and tokyo zokei university. she has exhibited in japan and abroad and her work has been featured in leading international design publications. the installation at tokyo midtown mall offers aesop's complete range of skin, hair and body care products, and is fitted with a demonstration sink to facilitate the immersive sensorial experience for which the brand is renowned [open through jun 30]. location: 9-7-1 akasaka, galleria b1f [roppongi].
