sydney: yo no hablo español

in 2011 australian photographer christopher morris traversed an exotic kind of outback, the one found of in northern mexico. he brilliantly captured the banality of the everyday, somehow giving it a sense of dignity and his choice of subject matter juxtaposes epic scale with up-close, unexpected encounters. opening thu - mar 8 [6pm-8pm] at the newly opened gallery 2010 is yo no hablo español [i don't speak spanish], an exhibition that features a series of rather stunning large-scale photographs of landscapes from this rugged and desolate region. an eponymous 50-page photo book with additional images, published by izrock pressings, will be launched that same evening. location: 69 reservoir street [surry hills].
