st. petersburg: baddesign 139 store opening

russia has seen a dramatic transformation of its fashion and lifestyle infrastructure these past two decades, and although it's no longer considered the new frontier, a knowledgeable demographic has emerged that's continuously keen to update and expand their wardrobe. and we're not talking those into mainstream collections, but the discerning shopaholic infatuated with niche brands. and although the country's capital has gained a solid reputation as a retail haven, st. petersburg also has its fair share of exclusive addresses. a little while ago a fashion forward boutique opened its doors on nevskiy prospekt, the main thoroughfare in the historic heart of the city.

interestingly called baddesign 139, the store has been founded by musician and entrepreneur oly markes, and has a distinct focus on forward fashion labels. occupying a ground floor unit of an expansive building, the retail space aims to reflect the owner's, featuring exposed bricks walls, a polished concrete floor and custom-made furnishings made from wood and steel. what's on the shelves are items for men, women and even kids from a tightly edited range of brands from across the planet. currently featured on baddesign 139's brand list are edgy names such as julius, barbara i gongini, rombaut, lost&found and 10sei0otto. location: nevskiy prospekt 139, building a [tsentralniy].
