what the locals knew for quite some time is gradually resonating beyond pittsburgh's city limits, and the arrival of opening of ace hotel's newest outpost is emblematic of this trend. the boutique hotel chain – known for its unique positioning and artsy approach of hospitality – has picked a location in east liberty, an area of town that's full of character, and as it happens, back on the rise again after decades of urban decline. ace hotel pittsburgh's 63 guestrooms are set over five floors of the former ymca, an almost century-old structure built in neo-classical style. each pad features the signature ace hotel aesthetic and comfort, made up of a palette of unassuming design, furnishings and detailing, all created by atelier ace, the in-house creative agency.

as with all properties, the hotel is firmly anchored in the neighbourhood and its history, while it also aims to actively foster a relationship with its inhabitants in general and the creative community in particular. as such, the coolness extends well into the property's public spaces, taking shape in inviting facilities where both guests and locals can relax and mingle, such as the whitfield, an informal neighbourhood restaurant serving brunch daily, with breakfast available all day, along with lunch and meat-inspired dinner menus. additional facilities of ace hotel pittsburgh include a full-fledged gym and a ballroom for various events. location: 120 south whitfield street [east liberty].
