paul smith returned to the grand, dome-like structure that is the bourse de commerce to present his a/w 2016 men's collection. to a succession of uplifting beats, models sauntered down improv aisles, wearing designs that take clear cues from an inspiring subcultural past. a much-loved fixture in paul smith designs, tailored looks are a prominent element, captured by coloured and striped - mind you sometimes even both - coats and a variety of versatile suits infused with a distinct rock edge. materials are rich and playfully eclectic, ranging from lurex pinstripes and micro houndstooth, to intricate photo prints and quality wool. many a look was beautifully layered, oozing both youthful nonchalance and grown-up sophistication, and made it clear that next winter personal style is all about flaunting a statement coat. shown here are six looks from paul smith's a/w 2016 men's collection that we prticularly like. show location: 2 rue de viarmes [st.-honoré].
