the french have a nose for the finer things in life, and that obviously includes matters of the olfactory kind. ex nihilo is a newly established, alternative perfume house based in paris. founded by sylvie loday, olivier royère and benoît verdier, three young french nationals with a knack for innovation, the company concocts personalized luxury fragrances that draw inspiration from the creative avant-garde and the french spirit of pure refinement. to do so, ex nihilo have created an exclusive ritual based on an innovative technology that allows personalisation of all its perfumes.

taking a next big step, the perfume house has recently opened its first flagship store on prestigious rue st.-honoré in the french capital. the new brick and mortar presence is a three-dimensional extrapolation of the perfume brand, reflecting the brand's core values and vision. designed by christophe pillet, it's a retail space that's both initmate and distinctly modern, featuring a palette comprised of shiny metal, white marble, wood and felt. as said, ex nihilo is all about discovery and personalisation, and the store aptly accommodates with a nifty setting that features suspended worktables and innovative fragrance testers.

on the ground floor shoppers are able to explore and try out ex nihilo's full collection of exclusive fragrances, including the limited edition series and the special range of artistic collaborations. the well-trained shop staff are readily available to provide the personalisation service with the specially developed osmologue, an exclusive and futuristic fragrance dosing system. one floor up, a private sensorial boudoir and atelier are situated where only those shoppers who require a more elaborate personalised consultation are allowed to enter. location: 352 rue st.-honoré [st.-honoré].
