mardou&dean is a hot young fashion brand led by designers ingrid bredfelt and patrik rosenfors, and its success is emblematic of a newly found confidence in norway's creative scene. four years after opening its first store in the center of oslo, it has opened a second boutique in aker brygge, a leafy downtown enclave along the oslofjord. it's situated in a 82 sqm. [883 sq.ft.] ground floor unit of a former 19th-century shipbuilding plant, and features an interior that was created by mardou&dean's founders. lofty and light, the setting is as adventurous and edgy as the label's aesthetics, and also incorporates a café, a seating area, a gallery space and a winter garden.

the forward palette consists of sepia-coloured marble, shiny brass and steel, and culminates in a beautiful wall mosaic shelving system which adorns one side of the store. bare red bricks form the backdrop and are paired with suspended copper pipes serving as clorthing racks, and suspended vintage lamps. mardou&dean's new store currently carries the full range of men's and women's runway and collection pieces, shoes and accessories. mind you, during the summer months the outdoor serving area is sure to become a buzzing meeting place where shoppers are served italian coffee while leisurely browsing newspapers and iconic lifestyle magazines. location: holmens gate 4 [aker brygge].
