new york: native son a/w 2012 collection

launched in 2008, native son is a relative newcomer to the world of menswear - however that didn't stop them from earning an ecco domani fashion foundation award in 2010. after viewing the brands a/w 2012 presentation, its plain to see why. this particular collection marks the first in a four season collaboration with north carolina based raleigh denimwho are well known for their heritage inspired jeans. with an obvious appreciation for design rooted in old world engineering and american culture, the collection leans toward a well tailored, laid back approach to everyday menswear.

a practical mix of fabrics including leather, wool, cotton and silk formed the foundation of the season which features perfectly structured biker jackets, fine suiting with subtle and at times hybrid detailng [think single accordion shoulder capelets], wool down jackets, wool trousers, mink trim coats, relaxed knits and loose draw string pants with ribbed knee pads. the resulting effect - heritage americana meets modernist sophisticate. with a few solid seasons behind them and certainly more to follow, we can safely say these guys are worth keeping an eye on.
