new york: general idea a/w 2012 collection

korean-based general idea's a/w 2012 presentation titled after games is an intersection of classic menswear, utilitarianism and futuristic track and field. inspired by archival images of hockey players from the 1968 winter olympics, the collection references mid century menswear through an eclectic, contemporary lense. heavy duty layering and the use of strong colors and fabrications created a solid fusion between athletic uniforms and everyday urbanity.

key looks included bold knits, trousers with knee pads, jersey pants, shorts over leggings, quilted patchwork parkas, varsity jackets and toggled over coats in a variety of patterns and fabric combinations. the footwear drew its inspiration from utility boots, tailored lace ups and high performance sneakers. sporting a definitively younger, more dynamic edge there is certainly a classic foundation which places itself comfortably in any modern mans wardrobe.
