Eight years after Byredo opened its standalone boutique in Soho, the Stockholm-based fragrance brand has, similar to an increasing number of luxury brands, succumbed to the increasing allure of Williamsburg and opened a second outpost there. Occupying a ground floor space of a newly built structure with a minimalist brick façade on North 6th Street. The interior design, created by the brand’s creative director Ben Gorham, takes cues from his affinity with traditional woodwork and his love for the rugged outdoors, growing up around forests in both Canada and Sweden. The walls are covered in pinewood panels and area paired with stone flooring.

Furnishings are few but add dramatic visual layering, either by volume, shape and material, or even, a combination of all three elements. The most striking piece is a robust raw stone sink, supplemented by aluminium cabinets laden with merchandise. One sits atop a sturdy display table, also crafted from slabs of raw stone. Tucked away, a hidden alcove encourages shoppers to interact with the products, providing an intimate experience with the brand’s diverse offering. Byredo‘s newest outpost in New York City carries the brand’s full range of perfumes, home fragrances, makeup and body care products, in addition to a selection of Byproduct items.
