mauro martinuzzi is an italian designer based in amsterdam. while studying industrial design at the istituto europeo di design in milan, martinuzzi became the assistant of designer emmanuel babled. this position proved to be quite crucial in martinuzzi's development, enabling him to collaborate with a string of leading design companies and galleries, while also attending seminars and displays related to murano glass blowing design. after his graduation martinuzzi continued working in europe's design capital but decided to broaden his horizon and move to the netherlands to set up mauro martinuzzi studio. the designer continues to collaborate with peers and has also launched his own mama product line.

martinuzzi will be present at the upcoming edition of milan's salone del mobile with a presentation at galleria blanchaert on apr 9-14. dubbed framed, the exhibition's officially opening party is held on thu - apr 11 [6pm-11pm] and features a collection of unique vases, all hand-blown in murano. the works have previously been presented in preview during dutch design week's previous edition. coming from a background of product design where control and perfection of the drawing define the goal, this project presented martinuzzi with the multi-faceted challenge of mastering a digitally controlled shape, the perimeters of contemporary design world, and last but not least the material itself. location: piazza sant'ambrogio 4 [magenta].
