prozak hails from são paulo and is one of the city's most prolific and influential urban artists. he rose to prominence in the late 1990s and adopted the nickname of the notorious numbing pill as a remedy for today's social issues, notably those affecting his hometown. since 1998 he has been involved in graffiti and street art projects across the planet. on thu - jun 6 [6pm-9pm] prozak's exhibition multifaces opens at pure evil gallery in london. on display are prints and paintings in mixed media on paper, continuing his research on transparencies and overlays, exploring the levels of saturation and contrast between colours, and the reaction between the materials used. these peculiar portraits, almost abstracts, contain multiple faces, skulls and masks mixed with expressions of euphoria, joy, anger, sadness and frustration, and they're all a metaphor for the precarious balance of the human mind, questioning the boundaries between the various layers of human emotion and complete insanity. location: 108 leonard street [shoreditch].
