following a string of stores at homebase new york city and on the west coast, (malin+goetz) have crossed the big pond to make their first european foray with two stores in london. the first boutique is situated in islington, a leafy neighbourhood in the north of the city where it occupies a ground floor unit of a late victorian building. in compliance with founders matthew malin and andrew goetz's vision that each of their boutiques are required to have an identity and shopping experience of its own, enlisted british practice jonathan tuckey design not only redesigned the shop front to match the building's ornate façade, but also a contrasting interior, captured by grid shelving and panels of untreated timber, that's a tad more modern. adding a nostalgic touch to the setting is antique sales counter in the back of the store. the new (malin+goetz) boutique carries the brand's full range of skin, body and hair care products, scented candles, fragrances and apothecary items. location: 146 upper street [islington].
