london: jackson + rye restaurant opening

london has no shortage of decent new york-style eateries but there's something about jackson + rye that not only transports you to the big apple but takes you back in time to a golden age of sazeracs and manhattans over a reuben or potted shrimp. it's an indulgent offering bridging brunch, dinner and pick-me-up treats and the soft, low-lighting makes it the kinda cosy place you could hang out for a leisurely while. for a dose of lightened up soul food, fast forward to the simple but delectable corn bread and creamed mushrooms, the buttlemilk fried chicken sandwich with coleslaw and the truffled mac 'n' cheese.

lighten up with candied pecans and beet salad, the seabass or crabcakes with apple slaw. do your stomach a favour and treat it to the melting chocolate sundae with butterscotch sauce. we're not 100% sure how they make it but it's one of the best sundaes in town. if there's room, sample the bourbon-pretzel-vanilla shake. the bar carries an extensive list of rye's to finish up with for a well-rounded, ol' fashioned american experience. you'll also experience famed american hospitality with friendly staff and an efficient text-when-it's-ready table wait list. location: 56 wardour street [soho].
