hattie stewart is a london-based illustrator known for her vibrant and playful style. currently on at kkoutlet is an exhibition of new work that exemplifies her unique signature. the show is entitled doll house and presents an eclectic mix of customised leather jackets, lenticular and hologram artworks, neon signage, and a bona fide doll house that's custom-painted amidst unique fantasy settings. the presentation is backed up by stewart's signature doodle bombings, previously unseen. these have been created by her drawing directly atop an array of high-profile magazine’s front covers. conceived in 2011, it’s an ongoing project series that explores the concept of breathing new life into old ideologies. these quirky re-designs both compliment and overtly re-appropriate the publication's original front cover image’s context, and also accents the media’s blatant manipulation of female role models, and society’s ever increasing obsession with celebrity culture [on through feb 28]. location: 42 hoxton square [shoreditch].
