from britten p/l is an australian menswear label helmed by alexander and tim britten-finschi. the fraternal duo crafts seemingly simple pieces that not only demonstrates an intricate construction and a close attention to detail, finish and function, but also a cool sense of modern urban style. from britten p/l's a/w 2013 collection takes cues from the designs by the late brazilian architect oscar niemeyer, focusing on his concept of fluidity and solidity. as a result the garments feature a dynamic and structured tailoring, with solid lines that contrast with fluid shapes. a very contemporary element - if not a subtle style statement - is how in certain pieces the seam leading the arm away from the torso, slices the structured curve into two elements.

this is very much embodying the idea of movement and how the subject takes on different forms as you view it from different angles. the colour palette stems from the basis of midnight and inky blues through to dark teal and petrol, then playfully jumps to whites and greys. as from britten p/l's focus is on quality and technology, the used fabrics range from wools and cashmeres from australia and italy, and also hi-tech fabrics from japan. from britten p/l's a/w 2013 collection is available at the brand's newly opened customer store in melbourne, and is carried by select stores across the planet.
