i.t sure knows how to celebrate its 25th anniversary. after special anniversary showcases in paris, hong kong, and now wrapping it up in beijing, the hong kong-based retailer has opened a brand new concept store in the chinese capital. located at parkview green, a glittering mixed-use complex shaped as a pyramid and one of china's biggest sustainable buildings, the store occupies 2,000 sqm. [21,528 sq.ft.] spread over two floors and is i.t's largest outlet nationwide. designed by british architect jamie fobert, the creative concept of the retail space is alluding to the image of a box. no less than 22 black metal boxes of different sizes are spread out throughout the premises and these visually instill the idea of consistency, as well as highlighting the individual personality of each brand.

a staircase which connects the two floors, serves as an extension to the black metal boxes, and also offers a powerful visual experience as shoppers arrive and exit the store. the flooring consists of luxurious marble, alternated by segments of sandblasted parquet and poured cement to create a modern eclectic look. lighting design company dpa designed a sophisticated light system for the store, adding another layer of visual drama to the store design. the stunning new i.t store carries men's and women's apparel, accessories and shoe collections from a wide range of top designers, including ann demeulemeester, saint laurent, pierre hardy, rick owens and comme des garçons. location: parkview green, 9 dongdaqiao lu, shop L1-01 + L2-04 [cbd].
