bangkok: ungrateful records

pongsuang kunprasop is more or less a fixture in bangkok's buzzing fashion and nightlife scene. kunprasop is not only the founder of the hugely popular dudesweet party series, but he has also dipped his toe in a string of fields, from creating visuals and delivering advertising concepts and ideas, to helping market glamified products and lifestyles. the man is the embodiment of popular urban culture and knows how to get his message across. and he does so eloquently and spot on, that he has become a touchstone for many creative professionals. but kunprasop's fame had a flipside. after enjoying the initial rush of success, it didn't give him the fulfillment or happiness he hoped for.
 
instead, it made him emotionally guarded and depressed, resulting in frequent depressions and problems in his relationships with friends, colleagues and lovers. in 2010, kunprasop's mother passed away. two years later he came across a picture of his unknown father on social media. both events triggered a desire to re-examine the life he had lived so far. opening sat - jun 4 [5pm] at wtf gallery is ungrateful records, an exhibition of paintings of imaginary record sleeves that depict random memories. they can be seen as an attempt to heal and mend the cracks in his life and integrate what appears to be disparate fragments. location: 7 sukhumvit soi 51 [sukhumvit].
