first launched by dries henau and yuri vandenbogaerde in ghent a year ago, the hybrid wasbar concept has now expanded to antwerp. we reckon it's an ideal hangout for urbanites of any age who - just like ourselves - aren't too thrilled doing one of the most tedious of domestic chores. flemish for laundry bar, it's simply a laundromat and bar rolled into one. the duo gave up a well-paid day job to pursue a new career with the concept and entered a televised contest in their native belgium which set out to find the most innovative new business kick-off. well, we're not surprised they won. belgian design studio pinkeye was once again enlisted for the interior and branding of this second outlet. the clean and friendly design is paired with vintage furnishings.

wasbar also boasts a designated section equipped with spacious desks, electric charging points and office utensils for the city's online community to make use of. mind you, wifi access is complimentary. the space features an ample number of washing machines and dryers, and totally in sync with modern times, wasbar exclusively uses eco-friendly washing detergent. the launch in antwerp coincides with the introduction of a new menu of toasted sandwiches with various savoury and sweet fillings that has been concocted with belgian culinary expert wim ballieu. making circumstances even more jolly to do your laundry are the live gigs by emerging artists on thursdays and the special brunch menu served on sundays. as for drinks, beer, tea and smoothies can be readily ordered. location: graaf van egmontstraat 5 [het zuid].
