a member of the groundbreaking antwerp six, belgian designer dirk van saene always kept a low profile, intentionally crafting small collections carried by only a few stores across the planet. a multi-tasking creative, van saene has done stints in a variety of disciplines, and also launched his own store in downtown antwerp in the early 1980s. known to be a tad unpredictable in what's creatively coming next, the designer lives up to his quirky reputation by once again opening up shop in his hometown. van saene's new boutique is simply called dvs, and is located one floor up from the coccodrillo women's store.

the retail space oozes an inviting, almost homey vibe with many of the stately building's original elements retained and effortlessly paired with modular contemporary furniture by dutch designer maarten baas. the dvs boutique carries dirk van saene's own designs, in addition to some of the best men's and women's collections by fellow belgians, including véronique branquinho, walter van beirendonck, sofie d'hoore, monsieur maison and frieda degeyter. location: schuttershofstraat 9, second floor [centrum].
