to help you defy a most dreary kick-off of summer in the low countries, amsterdam's eye film institute comes to the rescue with a sunny treat. launching on sun - jun 30 is fellini - the exhibition, an elaborate showcase on federico fellini [1920-1993], the legendary film director who shaped much of the post-war italian cinema landscape with a style all his own. the exhibition aims to place fellini's work in a broader perspective and unravels his compelling universe, tapping into the many sources of his bubbly imagination, set in a visual laboratory of sorts.

on display will be large-size projected film fragments, his advertising films, drawings photographs, archive documents and posters from both eye's own and other collection that provide an insight into fellini's obsessions, motivations and ideas. the exhibition will be accompanied by a special retrospective film program, lectures, a workshop and other events. and to add an edge of authenticity, actress anita ekberg, who starred alongside marcello mastroianni in what's arguably fellini's most iconic work la dolce vita [1960], will attend the exhibition's official opening. location: ijpromenade 1 [amsterdam noord].
