Coveted South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster gained a collaborative foothold, albeit a temporary one, in Milan last March. The pop-up store, an event we’ve covered in a previous post, has since evolved in a permanent presence which has just been officially revealed. Situated at the very centre of iconic concept store 10 Corso Como, the new shop-in-shop sees an entirely different setting anchored by an installation comprising Gentle Monster‘s signature large-sized kinetic faces. The face in the middle gently shuts its eyes and shakes its head in contemplation, sided by both a larger face and a smaller one that move fluidly around it. With softly blinking eyelids and subtly shifting pupils, the installation symbolises the complexity of cognition, emotion, and human connection. The back of the installation is flanked by sleek wall-mounted shelving units laden with Gentle Monster‘s newest collections, while right in front additional displays with more eyewear pieces encircle other decorative elements, notably star-like shapes.
