Following last year’s opening of a seasonal permanent store in Montauk and a pop-up store in New York City, Australian leisurewear brand Venroy has now shifted its focus way, way west, opening an ephemeral space in Los Angeles. The company has secured a location on Melrose Avenue, occupying a 323 sqm. (3,480 sq.ft.) space inside a low-rise structure built in the early 1950s. The interior design, created in-house by architect Chantelle Kramer, is as simple as it is striking, featuring a voluminous and empty whitewashed space with polished conccrete flooring as a backdrop for a sizeable volume in contrasting light blue which takes cues from perennial Southern California clichés—carefree poolside life, highlighting tiled surfaces, the reflective quality of water, and summer fun. The standalone pavilion, open, airy, and crafted from blue glass concrete, is designed to be explored. Lounging mannequins and a single metal swimming pool ladder accentuate the design theme that’s inextricably linked to local high life. The new Venroy pop-up store carries a selection of the brand’s men’s and women’s collections, and be open until December. © superfuture
