Opened three years ago to put the legacy of the iconic eponymous fashion house front and centre, La Galerie Dior in Paris follows the extraordinary story of Dior in the very place where the collections have been created for almost 80 years. From the days of Monsieur Christian Dior to today, exhibition space takes visitors on a journey to the heart of haute couture and is constantly updated with short-term exhibitions that give new perspectives on its unique heritage. A new retrospective has just been inaugurated at La Galerie Dior, showcasing around 150 looks accompanied by original sketches, archival documents and photographs that demonstrate the richness of Dior‘s heritage, its enduring modernity and its central place in the history of fashion. Having cultivated close friendships with artists from an early age, Dior imbued his designs with the magic of painting, music and dance.

For the first time, the exhibition will feature a room dedicated to the field of dance, which was also a major inspiration for his successors. In 1947, at the request of his friend Christian Bérard, the designer created the costumes for the ballet Treize danses, choreographed by the young Roland Petit, while Maria Grazia Chiuri created the costumes for Sharon Eyal and Guy Béhar‘s Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart in 2019. From the charm of the gardens to the magic of the ball, from the free creativity of the Miss Dior ready-to-wear collection to the mastery of the ateliers that shape haute couture at 30 Avenue Montaigne, via the Chambre aux merveilles, conceived as a museum exhibition room, from the enchanting Dior Allures to the seductive fragrance J’Adore, thirteen themes weave a wonderful adventure that celebrates the spirit of Dior and the passion that inspires it. © superfuture
