During this year’s edition of Milan‘s Salone del Mobile, the house of Missoni inaugurated a standalone boutique exclusively dedicated to its home collection. Situated in the leafy Brera district, on the lofty ground floor of one of the area’s many historic buildings, the Missoni store features an interior design by architects Rudy Faissal and Riccardo Boccia of local design practice LIT STUDIO. The design objective was to retain as much as possible of the building’s historic architectural elements, such as the iron and brick vaulted ceilings, the Art Nouveau-style capitals of two existing columns, and display window mouldings. The transformation has resulted in a clean aesthetic which not only highlights Missoni‘s iconic weaves and patterns, but the setting also aims to create a dialogue between past and present. The store’s lower half sees sleek tiered metal shelving units lining the walls, and even includes a matching sales counter. The aforementioned columns see a striking gradated colouring, from soft grey to off-white, then cherry, and eventually, a deep red which extends to the columns’ capitals and the entire ceiling. At the back, Missoni wallpaper, created in collaboration with Italian wallpaper manufacturer Jannelli & Volpi, adds a decorative element. The new Missoni store carries a selection of the brand’s latest home accessories. © superfuture
