Founded in Kazan in 2025 by Alina Kamalova, womenswear brand Nude Story has since gone leaps and bounds, and has recently opened a third retail space, no less than a flagship store, in Moscow. Situated on Ulitsa Kuznetskiy Most, one of the city’s most prestigious downtown shopping arteries, the standalone boutique occupies a lofty unit on the ground floor of an early 20th-century building with an ornate façade by architects Maxim Geppener and Illarion Ivanov-Schitz. The interior design of the Nude Story flagship store, created by local architecture practice RMMSH, sees settings playfully inspired by the concept of a fashion house, a digital gallery, and given Kamalova’s ardent love for Italy, the country where she also purchases the fabrics for her collections, a palazzo from Italian furniture catalogues. The result is eclectic, to say the least, featuring a backdrop of exposed red brick walls, a nod to the building’s structure, overlaid by large and shiny panels of steel, which add a distinctly futuristic element to the space. Mind you, the Nude Story flagship store comprises no less than four halls, of which only two are actually used as retail space.
The remaining two spaces accommodate a sales counter area and a separate area with fitting cabins. Upon entering the premises, shoppers find themselves in an intimate space with a lowered ceiling covered in a grid of mirrors and ceiling lights. Furnishings are sparse, featuring merely a wall-mounted display unit, a matching circular display, mannequins, and an elongated LED screen featuring branded footage. In the adjacent space, the waiting area, the eclectic grandeur peaks, featuring a ‘carpet’ of inlaid onyx and marble on which a variety of custom Italian-inspired furnishings upholstered with rich textures can be found, all right below a chandelier of LED screens featuring branded footage. Sliced and stacked Doric column shafts in pistachio green tie not only add vibrancy to the setting, but also reference the previously opened Nude Story boutique on nearby Ulitsa Petrovka, and it’s the colour of Tatarstan, the region where Kamalova’s roots are.
