PIMS is a tea salon inspired by China‘s contemporary tea-based drink craze. Founded in 2019 by entrepreneurs Artur Shusteriovas and Gleb Golubev, the retail concept was first introduced to Dubai two years ago, and ever since, it has steadily expanded. Very recently, PIMS has inaugurated a third outpost in at Dubai Hills, a sizeable office complex situated just east of the boomtown’s Al Quoz district. Situated on the ground floor of a modern multi-storey building, the interior design, once again been created by design practice KIDZ, takes cues from the desert, featuring natural tones and textures that reflect its unique character. The design theme has been translated into a backdrop of textured plaster walls with horizontal grooves which mimic sand dunes, while a warm, neutral palette evokes the life and cultural heritage of the desert—so, not as barren, but as an alluring source of identity.

The latter is reinforced by a curated selection of materials which also add an organic and tactile quality to the setting. For the design, sharp angles have been largely replaced with smooth, rounded transitions, aiming to foster a sense of softness and harmony, encapsulating the signature ambiance of the PIMS brand. An elongated service counter with a built-in glass display cabinet at the front anchors PIMS café, and is flanked by seating arrangements on two sides—tables and chairs alongside the large floor-to-ceiling windows, and an elongated bench, small sofas and chairs lining the side wall. The menu at the new PIMS café lists refreshing tea-based drinks, but also drinks with a watermelon, passionfruit or coconut base, special coffee concoctions, in addition to pastries and sandwiches. © superfuture
