The contemporary French style of A.P.C. resonates pretty much everywhere, and since Madrid still lacked a proper depository, a full-fledged boutique has been inaugurated here. The Paris-based brand secured a location in Chueca, one of the Spanish capital’s most fashionable shopping and entertainment areas. Occupying a lofty unit on the ground floor of a residential building erected in 1905, the store interior sees a renewed collaboration with French interior architect Laurent Deroo. The AP.C. retail space measures 155 sqm. (1,668 sq.ft.), spread across three distinct sections and a concealed storage space. Shoppers enter the premises in a display portal right at the front, which is entirely wrapped in shelving and display units crafted from concrete with intentional raw edges which tie in with variety of retained and exposed elements of the building. The actual retail space unfolds when passing the second doorway. Here, shoppers are met by an infusion of untreated light wood, captured by furnishings and fixtures, and even the flooring, ceiling, and suspended light fixtures. Separate nooks feature additional shelving units and seating. The final area is where the apparel collections are presented on suspended metal frames against a backdrop of whitewashed walls and concrete flooring. The new A.P.C. store carries the full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes, small leather goods, and eyewear. © superfuture
