Once a factory compound churning out cheap TV sets, OCT-Loft Creative Culture Park flaunts the many perks of Shenzhen‘s resounding economic success. The venue has evolved into a hub of contemporary art galleries and coffeeshops, and a highly popular one at that, pulling thousands of urbanites to its doorstep on a daily basis. As of late, a striking new café and whiskey bar has opened its doors in the adjacent park. Dubbed Tan90°, it occupies a 200 sqm. (2,153 sq.ft.) space and comes with a secluded outdoor terrace. The striking interior design, created by acclaimed local architecture and interior design practice AD Architecture, is futuristic and evocative, defying traditional styles yet fully geared towards its functional purpose. The fluid aesthetic of the setting tickles one’s imagination—it can be a cave, a space capsule, or simply a neuron. Mind you, it has been design as such that Tan90°‘s transition from café by day to whiskey bar at night is an effortless one.
