When Dior first opened a boutique in Amsterdam in 2014, the very first in the Netherlands, the arrival allowed the city to further raise its profile as a luxury shopping destination. And now, eight years on, The iconic Parisian fashion house pitches in once again, and considerably so, by expanding right next door and giving the premises a major revamp along the way. Housed in two former residential buildings, the Dior store features an interior design by the brand’s in-house design team. The red brick façade, a prominent element of most of the early 20th-century architecture in this leafy neighbourhood, is paired with the brand’s iconic cannage pattern. The women’s section sees an elegant palette of off-white, beige, gold and a dash of pink, captured by a different settings that present various parts of the collections. At the back of the store large windows allow in floods of natural light while also offering ample peeks of lush tree canopies and more of the neighbourhood’s residential  architecture. The men’s domain, a hotly anticipated new addition to this Dior boutique’s offerings, features carpeting with hypnotic shades of blue. Intricate Versailles parquet flooring ties in the two sections, as do a carefully sourced selection of furniture pieces by a number of leading designers and brands, including Christophe Delcourt, Giò Ponti, Fabrice Juan, Paolo Castelli and Haymann Editions.
