The Kokke dynasty makes its marks on this year’s hotly anticipated edition of Salone di Mobile in Milan. We’re talking the iconic designs of Dutch designer Ruud-Jan Kokke (1956) which are to be released once again by Kokke House, the eponymous, newly established design company founded by Romy Kokke, the designer’s daughter, and her husband Daniel Beasley. It’s in the Lombardian capital where the duo officially present the release of ICONS, a collection which also features designs that have been included in the collections of leading museums around the planet, such as Amsterdam‘s Stedelijk Museum and MoMA in New York City. To celebrate the launch of Kokke House and the release of the aforementioned collection, Fauteuil_21, the Dutchman’s very first design gains the global limelight in a special showcase on Tue – Jun 7 (RSVP required) at Bar Magenta, a storied bar and restaurant in the city’s Duomo district. First created in 1984, Fauteuil_21 may seem simple and understated, but it’s in fact underpinned by a thorough knowledge of materials and an intricate construction. The transparent frame is crafted from oak and is paired with sleek slats of sturdy and flexible ash wood. Especially for Salone del Mobile, the Fauteuil_21 Lapis model will be presented in a striking blue shade. Mind you, this is a limited edition version of only 50 pieces.
