There’s no doubt, Paris is one of the planet’s premier shopping destinations for obvious reasons, so a retail presence here is defining for many a self-discerning brand, including Axel Arigato. The Swedish sneaker brand, founded only in 2014, has seen an accelerated transformation into a full-fledged fashion label, and opened a flagship store in the French capital last June. Well, the Swedes just upped the ante, launching a shop-in-shop at Galeries Lafayette, one of the city’s leading luxury department stores. Situated on the second floor of the men’s building, the Axel Arigato shop-in-shop is flanked by the branded shop sections of Giuseppe Zanotti, Heston Preston and Etudes Studio, and sees a renewed collaboration with Stockholm-based architect Christian Halleröd. Stuccoed walls in a concrete-like hue form the backdrop for a myriad of displays placed on a bright yellow carpet adorned with the brand’s name and which is almost as big as the retail unit itself. The displays have a similar monolithic shape, but come in different heights and materials, adding a subtle yet playful visual dynamic to the setting. Additionally, merchandise is displayed on sleek wall-mounted shelving and metal clothing racks. The new Axel Arigato shop-in-shop carries a select range of men’s sneakers, apparel items and accessories.
