Happy birthday, Gucci! This year, the fashion realm’s most popular luxury brand celebrates its 100th anniversary, and obviously, it comes with a grand showcase, and obviously, it’s happening at Gucci Garden in Florence. Entitled Gucci Garden Archetypes, the exhibition is an ode of sorts to the brand’s hailed creativity and splendour since Alessandro Michele took the creative reigns in 2015. The exhibition is obviously equally splendorous, but also elaborate, exploring the abundance of sources that the luxury brand has tapped into for inspiration—from art and pop culture, to music and cinema, to create the fifteen major campaigns orchestrated by Michele during his highly successful tenure. Presented across various rooms, using cutting-edge technology and innovative scenography, visitors find themselves immersed in evocative spaces, each with a different narrative, and all designed by Michele in collaboration with Florentine design bureau Archivio Personale. The themes of the rooms include the brand’s Gucci Bloom fragrance, featuring actress Dakota Johnson, artist Petra Collins and model Hari Nef, a display of neon lights in Tokyo which references Gucci‘s A/W 2016 Collection and a large commissioned mural by artist Ignasi Monreal which references the S/S 2018 Collection. Alongside the unveiling of the show, an immersive multimedia experience that explores and celebrates Michele’s creative vision, a virtual Gucci Garden space also opened its doors on online game platform Roblox until the end of this month.
