Italian gastronomy never goes out of style, and when combined with luxury fashion, it obviously becomes a whole new thing. Following openings in Tokyo and at home base Milan, the house of Fendi once again pulls the hospitality card, and this time it’s in sunny Miami. The pop-up Fendi Caffè has taken over OTL, a popular restaurant in the city’s buzzing Design District, an upscale shopping and entertainment zone which has skyrocketed to global prominence in just a few years time. The venue has been given a full revamp by the luxury brand’s in-house design team, featuring an infusion of bright yellow, its signature hue, which is captured by sinuous stripes similar to those created by artist Sarah Coleman for her FF Vertigo capsule collection. The pattern can be seen all over the two-floor premises and comes with matching furnishings adorned by the double F logo. Mind you, even the building’s façade has been given a makeover. The menu at Fendi Caffè lists classic Italian coffee concoctions, paired with teas, juices and bottled beverages, in addition to a mix a all-day breakfast bites, sandwiches, salads and pastries, all presented with a distinct Fendi touch (open through Jul 6). And that’s not all. Across the street, at the Fendi boutique, an ephemeral Peekaboo Bar has been launched, allowing shoppers to fully customise their own Fendi Mini Peekaboo bag (open through Jun 3).

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
