As one of the global financial hubs, Singapore oozes money, life in the fast lane, and indeed, all the perks that come with it. Mind you, the city state’s appeal dramatically increased since the glory days of arch rival Hong Kong seem numbered. Indeed, in Singapore living the good life is pretty easy, given the ever-growing number of plush establishments, including five-star lodgings. The hospitality sector may have taken a serious blow this past year due to the global pandemic, but it has been predicted to bounce back next year. Anticipating the rising numbers of discerning travellers is The Clan, a luxury hotel by Far East Hospitality, and it’s the first one of a newly launched division. Situated smack in the middle of the city’s business district, the property occupies a soaring 30-storey tower on top of Far East Square shopping centre, and features 324 rooms in three different categories and sizes.

As its name already implies, the chosen aesthetic is inspired by a historic era in which adventurous settlers, in search of fortune and who organised themselves in various clans or kongsi, laid the foundation of the economic powerhouse that Singapore is today. Distinctly contemporary and in a demure palette, the rooms obviously all the requirements of today’s savvy traveller, offering amenities such as a bathroom with a rain shower, a Samsung 55-inch Smart TV, complimentary WiFi, and for those with special wishes, a 24-hour concierge service is readily available. The Clan‘s facilities add to the sense of top-notch service and pampering, and this arguably is captured best by Qin restaurant and bar. A  destination in its own right, it serves breakfast and lunch, but in the evening, an elevated dining experience is offered by way of classic Chinese dishes with a modern twist.

Needless to say, the decor is equally alluring, featuring a modern and welcoming setting with subtle Asian touches, and being situated on level 4 and five, the venue come with sweeping views of the city. The latter can also be said of the Terrace, an outdoor space where to relax and sit back or mingle. Allowing guests to balance the good life, is a gym on the 30th floor. Aptly called Sky Gym, it features state-of-the-art equipment and comes with a comprehensive selection of on-demand virtual classes from the world’s leading instructors. And that’s not all. The Clan aims to connect guests with the soul of Singapore, and does so by way of cultural activities. The so-called Inner Circle offers a curated list of services and experiential hotspots, and a programme of special tours sheds light on specific cultural facets. In need of custom tips? Check. The Clan Keeper is a personal assistant of sorts, but one with an extended reach and totally in sync with what’s going on in this bustling town.
