Stone Island forays into Southeast Asia for the very first time and opens a new outpost at Marina Bay Sands, arguably the leading luxury shopping centre in Singapore. The Milan-based brand has secured a 115 sqm. (1,238 sq.ft.) unit on one of the shopping centre’s subterranean levels, featuring an interior design by longtime collaborator Marc Buhre of German architecture practice Zeichenweg. A monochrome backdrop, created from brushed bush-hammered stones covers the walls and floor while the back wall, is clad in MDF with contrasting yellow paste and features a bold Stone Island compass logo. Furnishings are few, but all allude to the brand’s distinctly modern and tech-infused brand image, and include suspended black metal clothing racks, paired with matching shelving units, four combined standing clothing racks and displays, and last but not least, a mannequin installation. The ceiling and changing rooms dipped in Caparol paint and have Kvadrat wool curtains. The new Stone Island store carries the brand’s full range of apparel, while the Shadow Project collection is presented in a dedicated area.
