Few East European capitals have seen such a dramatic transformation as Warsaw in the past few years. Since becoming the capital of an EU member state in 2004, a booming economy has spawned a growing infrastructure dotted with places of ultimate self-indulgence. The good life is very much reflected in the city’s hospitality scene, and as of late, a new boutique property has added a sophisticated pizazz that puts it more on a par with stylish neighbouring capitals such as Berlin, Vienna and Prague. Nobu Hospitality was founded in 1994 by star chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro and film producer Meir Teper, and gradually evolved from a fine dining restaurant chain to the leading luxury hospitality chain it is today, managing thirteen properties across the planet. Its latest, the Nobu Hotel Warsaw, is another exercise of cosmopolitan-style boutique hospitality. Interestingly, the hotel comprises of two parts, perfectly connecting the classic with the modern. The first part, situated in the pre-war Rialto Hotel, represents Art Deco style, and features a fitting interior design by local practice De Novo.

In stark contrast, the other part is a firm nod to modern times. Here, Polish architecture practice Medusa Group and Los Angeles-based Studio PCH, a lontime collaborator of Nobu Hotels, laid down design codes which are an amalgamation of both classic and contemporary elements, mixed and matched with artworks by Polish artists, such as Anna Bimer, Piotr Uklański and Mikołaj Moskal. Nobu Hotel Warsaw features 117 luxurious guest rooms and suites in eight different categories, offering all the comfort and amenities required by today’s savvy traveller, including queen-size beds, a walk-in shower, in-room high-speed internet, and all rooms in the new wing even come with a traditional Japanese tea set. The hotel’s facilities further anchor the brand identity in Warsaw, while also enhancing its stature as a sophisticated destination along the way. Obviously, a Nobu restaurant can be found on the premises which serves chef Nobu Matsuhisa‘s hailed New Style Japanese dishes. The diner sees a modern yet elegant setting in wood which references traditional Japanese izakaya, and comes with a Nobu bar, two private areas, a chef’s table and a sushi bar.
