Only a few months after opening its very first store in London‘s popular Soho shopping district, JW Anderson has expanded halfway across the globe with a second retail space in Seoul, occupying a compact unit on the third floor at The Galleria‘s plush Cheongdam outpost. Mind you, the department store chain arguably has the best assortment in high-end designer goods nationwide. The store sees an interior design which is aligned with the dual design codes of the aforementioned store in the British capital, created by architecture practice 6a architects. Floor-to-ceiling glass allows a full view of the interior–a window display sits on one side of the entrance, featuring the brand name in neon lettering, while aluminium shelving filled with small leather goods lines the large window adorned with the anchor logo in neon. Inside, similar shelving is merged with clothing racks against a backdrop of curtains which conceal the fitting rooms. Additional furnishings comprise of a sleek bench and a marbled side table. The understated modernity is counterbalanced by a cozy section captured by lacquered timber with more shelving, drawers, matching clothing rack, and last but not least, a glass cabinet with brass trimmings. The new JW Anderson store carries the brand’s full range of women’s apparel, shoes, and bags.

Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
