Founded only in 2016 by childhood friends Charlie Lindström and Daniel Djurdjevic, Swedish eyewear brand Chimi has gone leaps and bounds, becoming a staple in the wardrobe of a fashionable demographic across the planet. Originally selling its coveted merchandise only, Chimi has upped the ante and expanded its operations to brick and mortar retail, opening new headquarters and a flagship store in one of Stockholm‘s busiest shopping streets. Measuring a total of 345 sqm. (3,714 sq.ft.) – the shop occupies less than half of the entire space – on the premises of a late 1920s building, the company tapped local architecture practice Guise to create a fitting interior design. The chosen aesthetic is distinctly clean and understated, reinforced by a monochrome palette which is very compatible with the building’s sober façade.

Clearly inspired by Brutalist architecture, the store is also outspokenly modern, elegant even, seeing arches, wall panels, columns and furnishings which are subtly textured with vertical ridges. Speaking of which, furnishings are sparse, comprising merely a sizeable display table which takes centre stage, three pedestals, a sales desk, a bench, and shiny metal shelving on either side of the retail space, paired with a curved mirror installation. The understated setting is framed by polished concrete flooring and an exposed ceiling adorned by a configuration of suspended LED lights. The new Chimi store carries the brand’s Core Collection, Chimi Labs collection, Sports Collection, and the Kids Collection for the youngest fashion-conscious generation.
