Following the opening of a retail space at home base Rio de Janeiro, women’s swimwear and apparel brand Haight has launched a second standalone store in São Paulo. Marcella Franklin, the brand’s designer, picked a location in Cerqueira César, a leafy enclave in the heart of the city. Occupying an elongated 260 sqm. (2,797 sq.ft.) space, the interior design is a collaborative effort of local architecture practice Entre Terras and architect Pablo Resende. The pre-existing building was maintained and became a guideline of sorts for an opaque facade. Upon entering the building, shoppers explore five rooms of different shapes, with the sky sometimes as a ceiling. Surfaces are merely intended as the result of adding or unveiling layers of materials. The rough texture of the walls appears as a reinterpretation of ordinary cityscapes, while the sandstone used as object in the store references the famed beaches of Rio where the Haight brand is from. This stone formation is characterised by a spontaneous accumulation of sand layers deposited through time. The new Haight boutique carries the brand’s full range of swimwear and apparel pieces.
