Creative multitasker Jean-Paul Goude and the House of Chanel‘s first collaborated in the late 1990s, resulting in a number of acclaimed and visually arresting fragrance commercials and ad campaigns such as Egoïste, Coco, and very recently, Chance. The fruitful synergy has spawned an exhibition which not only elaborates on the specific of this ongoing collaboration, but also Goude’s prolific career. Whimsically entitled In Goude We Trust!, the showcase premiered last year in Tokyo and has now landed at Palazzo Giureconsulti in the heart of Milan. The exhibition is divided int three sections, each featuring a different theme. The first section features Goude’s iconic commercial film range with Chanel, followed by an elaborate presentation of the Frenchman’s most emblematic works by showing a selected photographic prints, drawings and sketches relative to his creative process, as well as displaying a large panoramic view of his installation of luminous sculptures at Musée Pompidou in Paris in 2017 and an audiovisual installation of screens dedicated to music and rhythm in movies. The final section sees a small cinema screening So Far, So Goude, a 90-minute film which provides an overview of the artist’s inspirations and career, from his youth to the present day (on through Dec 31).
