Launched two years ago – or should we say relaunched? – Polaroid Originals is the new brand by Polaroid, celebrating the original format Polaroid instant photography. The launch saw the introduction of a brand new analog instant camera, the Polaroid OneStep 2, so it’s not all about nostalgia, but also giving this iconic brand a contemporary twist. The company has now stepped up its profile by opening a Polaroid Lab pop-up space in Paris and New York City to celebrate of the launch of Polaroid Lab, an innovative portable printer which acts like a darkroom and turns digital photos on your mobile phone into instant Polaroid pictures. At both ephemeral retail spaces the avid fanbase is able to test out new products, meet photographers, immerse themselves in storytelling areas, and participate in a programme of inspirational and educational workshops. Both pop-up retail spaces have been designed in collaboration with creative agency Rosie Lee, and sees bright rainbow-coloured façades paired with whitewashed interiors with matching furnishings and fixtures, and bold wall graphics. Both Polaroid Lab pop-ups will be operational for one month only.
