We’re totally clueless as to what the purpose is, but it’ll surely be a total hit among hordes of aspiring millennials across the planet. We’re talking the recently launched Balenciaga LED frame sunglasses. Part of the cult brand’s coveted S/S 2020 Collection, the chunky retro-inspired black frame with rectangular glasses come with built-in LED which lights up the Balenciaga logo. Already widely seen as trophy shades in fashion circles, it’s another example of creative director Demna Gvasalia‘s brilliantly playful disposition, and it was first introduced on the catwalk during the most recent edition of Paris Fashion Week. Once the sunglasses arms are extended, the logo lights up. But that’s not all, as the proud owner of next summer’s most prized clubbing gadget, you’ve got options. The logo lettering can turn blue, red, green, yellow. purple and white, and can either blink, remain static, or even fade from one colour to another. The light switches off when the glasses are closed, placed upside down on a surface for over five seconds, or when the sensor is tapped three times. The Balenciaga LED frame sunglasses will drop in stores early next year.
