A little birdie has nestled in Dubai, ushering in a slew of Mexican delicacies along the way. We’re talking El Noctámbulo – or ‘Night Owl’ in English – the newest eatery that has spawned from hospitality entrepreneur Samer Hamadeh‘s adventurous brain, and the very same man who set up popular venues such as the eclectic Akiba Dori dining concept and night haunt Stereo Arcade. The new concept is inspired by La Mujer Lechuza or ‘Owl Witch’, a somewhat sinister Mexican story told to kids to keep them from going out at night, but instead the setting is upbeat and colourful, flaunting elements from Mexican folkloric design and whimsical iconography. More than meets the eye, El Noctámbulo actually comprises of a taqueria and tequila bar, and serves tasty Mexican cuisine by chef Maria Sainz, in addition to tequila, mezcal, michelada and other beverages. Very much an all-day venue, the menu lists an abundance of authentic bites, including sope chorizo, tropical guacamole, crispy fish tacos, cheese empanada, and for sweet tooths, there’s churros con chocolate. The venue’s buzzing vibe obviously comes with appropriate tunes, being Mexican hip hop and R ‘n B. Location: El Noctámbulo, Building 8 (Dubai Design District).
