The eagerly anticipated Christian Louboutin boutique has opened its doors, and even for shoppers familiar with the brand and its retail presence, it’s a sight to behold. Following a previous retail collab in Barcelona, the cult luxury cobbler has once again tapped Paris-based interior designer Laura Gonzales to create the settings for the Amsterdam store. The red brick façade has been given a quirky makeover, and now features the brand name against a backdrop of  yellow tiles – playfully sprinkled multi-coloured confetti – with matching frames and doors, and stylish red awnings. Needless to say, it hints the chosen aesthetic what lies beyond the doorstep. Gonzalez delved into designer Christian Louboutin‘s reservoir of fav topics and picked ‘performing arts’ to conjure up an interior design that’s distinctly lavish and yet whimsical at the same time, a rare feat with the realm of luxury retail.

The design jumbles together playful displays and styles from different eras and includes elements similar to other Christian Louboutin outposts across the planet, but the aesthetic treads lightly, and as such, it’s great fun to behold. Within the palette, dominated by the brand’s signature bright red hue, the velour fabric designs by Nobilis and the intricate wall decorations by Alexandre Poulaillon, a painter and decorator based in Mulhouse, contribute a great deal to the boutique’s sense of playful opulence. The retail space measures a sizeable 180 sqm. (1,938 sq.ft.) spread across two floors of a late 19th-century building. The new Christian Louboutin boutique carries the full range of women’s and men’s shoes, sneakers, bags and small leather goods.
