When it comes to fashion, the connotations surrounding Berlin usually derive from the city’s subversive underground culture. The two decades before becoming the capital of a unified Germany encompass a wealth of youth counterculture that resonate across the planet to this very day. It’s with a similar quirky stance that Daniel Blechman and Raphael Weinberg, two veterans in the fashion industry, have recently launched HNTA (pron.: hun-ta), a new multibrand men’s boutique in the happening Mitte district. The store occupies a compact ground floor unit of a residential structure that was originally built in 1840, and features a no frills interior design that pairs whitewashed walls, lacquered wood flooring, and sturdy metal clothing racks. The understated aesthetic allows the tightly curated merchandise to pop, and given the founding duo’s in-depth take on style, there’s obviously plenty to discover for likeminded males. Intentionally shunning mainstream fashion, HNTA carries a cool mix of exclusive high-end fashion, designer sneakers and urban style, featuring a brand list that includes a string of coveted names such as Juun.J, MastermindDamir Doma, Undercover, Enfants Riches Déprimés, Ambush, Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist and Komakino.
