clientele

this is definitely fertile inter-cultural boy meets girl territory. lots of neighbourhood expat guys and lots of japanese girls.

service

okay.

interior

cool. if you walk in the first thing you see is this striking elongated bar along a curved wall with this gigantic videoscreen featuring very wicked short movies that create an atmosphere that transcends the whole heartland marketing formula. big unclutte

being a drinking modernist, you can't help liking this bar for its brash up-to-date interior [by ryuji kosaka]: minimalist and spacious with a playful dose of audiovisual drama [think dutch [I]droog desig but leave out the drama bit]. only later did i find out the bar is in fact a slick marketing tool of a local beer brand with the same name. heartland seems quite able to entice its target group of well-payed 30-something male professionals [...and the flirtatious women that gravitate around them].
