absolutely the first and massively overdue boutique hotel to hit tokyo [at least it was in 2003 when it opened]. a converted 8 floor 60s style hotel [used to be called hotel new meguro]. only 9 rooms serviced plus 27 others for long term residency. no 2 rooms are similar. claska lounge serves drinks till 4am. however there are limited facilities [unless you are a dog that is...] ie. no pool, spa, gym... if you are a hard core interior design junkie this is worth the trek...though anyone else might not get i

currently hosting a-team groovyrama events so expect a sharp but freindly crowd plus those with cars...or enough cash to pay for the 3000 yen cab ride back to the big smoke. remember that this hotel is not exactly in a convenient location [even for those

just opened so not sure. hard to tell the hotel staff from the clientele.

interior

somewhat retro 70s/60s oriental minimal... designed by quite a few collaborating creators du jour. front entrance by steve baker [of tomato fame] hotel lobby and rooms by shuwa tei [who designed lowrider and motion element] and yudai tachikawa [t.c.k.w].

anyone who says this hotel is conveniently located is lying. but very stylish and great if you like smaller, more personal hotels. only 9 rooms and each one is different.
